Battle Box Immersive Audio experience

In year 2 semester 1 i was selected by my T219 Live sound lecturer Mr Jackie to participate and take part in the Battle Box immersive experience. This tasked me with curating audios for different acts of a scenario back in 1942 when the japanese had begin their invasion of singapore in WWI and were bombing shophouses, and simulated the fear people felt back then when the invasion started, and they were trapped in a shop house, ultimately being bombed, having the roof blown off and being crushed to death or injured by the falling debris. Then i had to place and snip respective sounds and for creative purposes, record some sounds using foley (examples of sounds recorded include screaming, crying and bodies begin crushed by falling debris). Following that i had to test it being played back in the Immersive suite in republic polytechnic, to ensure a 360 degree panning of all audios that was realistic for the time of 1942 and test the playback at battle box @ fort canning as well. Overall, the experience was extremely enriching and fulfilling when i had completed it in mid september of 2026. I had learnt alot about the DAW pro tools and lots of different shortcuts to make my life easier. It was a treat to utalise all expense of my course, Diploma in sonic arts and be able to use rooms which would otherwise be granted forbidden access to without the participation in this project. It gave me a wider expense and range of sound and its capability to tell and convey a story to the audience, heightening its importance to me. It also boosted my abilites as a sound engineer, learning to work within tight situations and resolve and troubleshoot impossible challenges with a good team. (Photos of my experience bellow)
